The 16-19 Bursary Fund

The 16-19 Bursary Fund is provided by the Education Funding Agency to schools and colleges to help sixth form students who may be facing financial hardship to manage the costs associated with their studies.

Students wishing to make an application to the Bursary Fund will fall into one of two categories.  Please read the school’s Policy Notes carefully to decide which type of bursary you wish to apply for.

Application forms for the 2017-18 Academic Year can be downloaded or collected from the Sixth Form Office after 8 September 2017.

Please note:  if you were awarded a bursary in 2016-17 you will need to reapply for 2017-18.

Completed forms should be returned to the Sixth Form Office by 30 September 2017 together with supporting documentary evidence where necessary.   As we have a limited budget we will assess all initial applications at the same time in order to manage our funds as efficiently as possible. Late submissions will be treated as in-year applications.

If your financial circumstances change during the year, or you are facing exceptional circumstances, then you may be able to make an in-year application if funding is available.  Please see the Head of Sixth Form in the first instance.

Students who are awarded a bursary and who meet the criteria for payment will be receive four equal instalments in October, January, April and July.  Students awarded a bursary may also apply for additional assistance with specific costs, such as travel costs for university open days or books and equipment.  Receipts will need to be provided to support such requests.

Please speak to Mrs H Ghataore, Acting Head of 6th Form, if you have any queries.
