PD (Inset Day) – Friday 3rd July


Friday 26th June 2020 

Dear Parent/Carer, I hope you are safe and well. 

As you may recall, King Henry School recently cancelled a calendared PD day which was due to take place in the w/c 1st June. 

Following my first couple of weeks in post, I have now rearranged this PD day for Friday 3rd July. This rearranged date will have no impact on our extended school for Year 10 and Year 12, which runs from Monday-Thursday each week.

Firstly, I would like to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of King Henry School. As you may know, I officially took up my position on Monday and I am delighted to be in post, particularly as we seek to navigate these challenging times.

As a Trust we have taken steps to access digital support from the Government for disadvantaged families who do not have access to a device through another source; eligible students are defined as being:

  • Care Leavers
  • Children and young people 0-19 with a Social Worker
  • Disadvantaged Year 10 pupils

We have managed to secure a number of devices through this scheme and with support from the Borough; they are due to be delivered to schools in June.

Dear Parents and Carers 

Firstly, thank you to parents and carers who have followed the Government advice and kept their children at home today. Please continue to do so for theirs and others safety during this pandemic. The schools in the Trust have arrangements in place for the children of key workers who have no alternative childcare and vulnerable children. These arrangements follow guidance on social distancing and handwashing. Any students who come to school and exhibit symptoms will be sent home once parents have been contacted.

We now have some clarity with reference to the provision for children of key workers. Before reading the list, please be mindful of the following:
You will see that the list encompasses a large number of people. There is further guidance that also says:
Children with at least one parent or carer who are identified as critical workers by the government can send their children to school if required.

Year 13


Today will be the students’ last day for the foreseeable future and it is with regret that we cannot provide them with a leavers’ assembly or any of the usual traditions. We want to reassure you that in the future, when it is possible, we will have a formal gathering to celebrate all Year 13 have achieved.
