Changes to King Henry School Medicines Procedures

December 2019

Dear Parents & Carers

Changes to King Henry School Medicines Procedures

In line with Department of Education guidelines, (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/supporting-pupils-at-school-with-medical-conditions--3 ) we regret that King Henry School will no longer be able to administer unprescribed medication to students. This includes over the counter products such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.

In the event of your child being prescribed medication and needing to take this during the school day, we will issue them with a parental consent form that should be fully completed and returned the next day.

All prescribed medicines should be clearly labelled with the dispensary label, and in the original packaging.

Medicines will be kept in the first aid room, and it is the responsibility of the student to collect them at the end of each day.

Any medication that your child currently has in school should be collected. Any unprescribed medication not collected by the end of term will be disposed of.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support

Yours sincerely

Ms Z Tippey
