Christmas Card Competition 2018
This year KS3 students were involved in a competition to design a Christmas card with winning entries being printed and sold to raise funds for the Fossett Lodge Care Home.
Students engaged in this challenge with enthusiasm and devoted their time both in class, after school and at home to create their design. Each year worked to a particular theme, according to their current scheme of work: Year 7 based their designs on nature; Year 8 on African pattern; and Year 9 concentrated their ideas on the theme of Surrealism.
Students were creative with their choice of mediums and produced a range of work including line drawings, coloured pencil drawings, water colour paintings, works in oil pastels and collage. Imaginative and colourful designs depicting a variety of Christmas festive themes filled the classroom space, as many designs were displayed to both promote the competition and provide inspiration. There were many positive remarks from students on the designs they liked most.
Many designs were put forward for selection to be printed and I am very pleased that several of the best designs have been chosen, showing the artistic talent of students from each year. A variety of wonderful designs will be displayed in Reception for all to enjoy.
