Dear Parents and Carers
Change to the School Lunch Time during Exams
For the duration of the next mock GCSE examination session which takes place in the week commencing 11 March 2019, there will be a change to the timing of the lunch break. This does not affect the length of the school day or the start and finish times.
Periods 1-3 and break will continue as before but during the week commencing Monday 11 March to Friday 15 March inclusive the lunch break will follow straight after period 3. Students will then return after lunch to periods 4 and 5 followed by form period. On Wednesday 13 March form period will take place at the end of period 4 and students will finish at 2:05 pm as usual.
The purpose of the change is to space out the exams so that adequate recovery time between exams can be enabled and therefore pupils can perform to the best of their ability. It also makes it possible for all students who are entitled to extra time for their examinations to receive their full entitlement and for students taking longer examinations in the afternoon to finish their exams within the normal school day; currently they can finish as late as 4pm.
Please see below for a summary of the school day on 11, 12, 14 and 15 March 2019. The mock exams will take place during the times which are shaded.
It is hoped that these changes will support all our students in performing to the best of their ability in their examinations. If it proves successful, it is likely that the arrangement will be put in place again during the main GCSE and GCE examination season from 13 May to 26 June. Students will be informed of these arrangements in assembly and by their form tutors. Please visit our website: //kinghenry.org.uk/ regularly for important updates.
